I've sent email off to support. More details as I get them.

And she's back.
As part of the effort to bring you the shiniest conversation in town, I'm bringing the server down for a backup tonight.  Also expect some rebooting action in the near future.

But for now--as of 12:20am Friday, May 23rd, a backup will be taking place.

b.org is very very slow.

Right now, the load average on www.buffistas.org is about 30, and is spending about 95% of its time in an iowait state (waiting for disk read and writes). There is no free memory on the system, and it is swapping like crazy -- the system is thrashing.

Buffistas.org will be going down for a version upgrade at 10pm PDT Saturday the 10th of May. Shouldn't be more than an hour.

Buffistas.org is v. slow

From what I can tell, iStrata is performing some sort of maintenance on the server right now.

www.buffistas.org isn't serving up pages right now. I can't get in to check the PHP conf file (TomS, if you can, can you make sure that register_globals is enabled) from here, so I've sent an email in to support.

And, we're up.

Maybe they needed to be prodded? Anyway, the software upgrade didn't work. Here's the text of the email:

It should be up now. We ran into a problem with the migration. The
utility that converts the backup from the 7.5.4 based server to the 8.1.1
server failed. Now that we have a 7.5.4 backup from your server we can
use that to debug the problem with the conversion utilitity. Once we have
that issue resolved, we'll plan another live data migration. This utility
is new to Plesk 8.1.1 and probably has a few kinks that need to be worked
out.
No it's not back up, yes I'm chasing them down.

More info as I get it.
